The ministry of development has awarded to AEPO a €862,000 engineering contract for the design studies for the reopening of the international tunnel on the Saragossa-Pau railway and upgrading of Canfranc station. SNCF, the French state rail company, and RFF, the rail network operator, have trebbled their estimate to renovate the 85 km section in France. €300 million would have to be invested to reopen the line.
