On the 4th January 2018 the first works started
on the Rogfast project . This will be
the first tunnel built to replace the ferry service. The road tunnel will be long. The EUR1.73 billion project includes the
longest (26.7 km) and deepest (392 m) underwater tunnel in the world. The
deepest section will be on the 4 km tunnel up to Kvitsoy. The Rogfast, whose
construction is scheduled to be completed in 2025/2026, will tie north and
south Rogaland together. Travel time will be 40 minutes faster from Bergen to
Stavanger.
At the end of 2017 NCC secured the first EUR18,9 million
contract (E13) involving 16 km of tunnel from Harestad to half way between
Tungenes and Kvitsoy and the ventilation shaft Tungenes. Later this month it
will be awarded the Kvitsoy contract (E02), value over EUR310 million,
involving the construction from Kvitsoy totalling around 21 km tunnel, 2
ventilation shafts (10 m diameter, 250 m deep/high) and 2 km local road
network. Click here and no/78 for tunnelbuilder archive. Visit https://www.vegvesen.no/. 01/18.
