On 28.10.2009 the JV Astaldi (Italy), Gulermak (Turkey) and PBDiM (Poland) signed the EUR780 million contract for design and construction of Warsaw Metro Line 2, section between Dasynskiego and Wilenski Stations, 6.3 km length, completely underground, with seven stations on both sides of the Vistula River.
The tunnels are being bored by four 6.3 m-diameter Herrenknecht EPB TBMs. The connection tunnels between the existing line (Line 1) and the new line are also within the scope of the project.
On 19.06.2013 TBM Krystyna started the 930 m-long drive between stations C14 (National Stadium) and C13 (Copernicus Science Centre), going under the river. TBM Elisabetta is about two weeks behind. Estimated time of completion of the tunnels is late-August and early-September. Click here for the map and some photos, here for further information and pl/11 for tunnelbuilder archive.
