The 50^th anniversary of the inauguration of the Mont Blanc tunnel was celebrated on 15.09.2012. Next year, the Janus fire appliances currently stationed at the adits and in the middle of the tunnel will be replaced by new vehicles equipped with georadar lasers. Onboard water capacity of the appliances is tripled to 12,000 litres to enable a 15-minute range of action.

A new management system is being installed, analyzing the 35,000 items of data collected from cameras and sensors installed in the tunnel, and allowing operators to activate the automatic station control systems and procedures suitable for all circumstances. Visit www.tunnelmb.net. 38/12.
