Mexico City Invites International Tenders for Construction of Line 12 of its MetroCompanies interested in participating in the construction of the two sections of Line 12 of the Mexico City metro have until Friday 25th January 2008 to purchase the bidding rules, as part of the international public tender launched on 21st January by the government of the Federal District. It is a lump sum contract, which means that the successful contractor will construct the line and test the rolling stock, and the government of the Federal District will pay, on its own resources, the amount agreed.The tender includes the necessary studies and analysis, preliminary and detailed designs, construction, installations, tests, maiden trips and commissioning, and training of the operator.The bidding rules are available for consulting or buying on internet at http://compranet.gob.mx or directly from the Subdirección de concursos y contratos de la Dirección general de obras para el transporte, Avenida Universidad n° 800, Primer piso, Col. Interested companies are requested to submit their technical bids by 4th April and their financial proposals by 21st April. Construction will have to begin on 10th June to be concluded on the first section from Tláhuac to Axomulco in December 2010 and on the second section from Axomulco to Mixcoac in December 2011. The future 24.5 km-long line will run underground and intersect with four other metro lines (2, 3, 7 and 8) and three metrobus lines. It will serve 22 stations (Mixcoac, Insurgentes Sur, 20 de Noviembre, Zapata, Parque de los Venados, Eje Central, Ermita, Vía Láctea, Mexicalzingo, Axomulco, Ganaderos, Barrio Tola, Culhuacán, La Virgen, Calle 11, Periférico Oriente, Tezonco, Olivos, Nopalera, Zapotitlán, Tlaltenco and Tláhuac). The investment will amount to MXP13.2 billion. The line will facilitate the mobility of 367,000 people daily, becoming the fourth line of Mexico's metro system.
