Master's Course on Tunnels and Underground WorksGiven the ongoing importance of tunnels and tunnelling in Spain and around the world, the Spanish tunnelling association (AETOS) has set put a Master's course on tunnels and underground works, backed and sponsored by numerous organizations from the construction and engineering sectors. This specialised course takes place between March and October 2006. During the inaugural day celebrated at the Institution of Civil Engineers for Roads, Canals and Harbours, its president and former president of the ITA, Edelmiro Rua Alvarez, made a speech on "Tendencies and challenges of tunnel engineering".The fundamental objective of the Master is to provide the necessary technical qualification to access to the professional world, whether it be for planning and design and/or construction management. With a total of 600 hours, the programme is based on four key areas that cover all the theoretical, technological and practical aspects required for the design and construction of high-quality tunnels.
