A loan agreement for the Lucknow Metro project between the Government of India and the international funding agency European Investment Bank (EIB) has been signed in Brussels. It was done during the visit of Prime Minister of Brussels (Belgium) for the 13th India-EU Summit. EIB funded the Lucknow Metro Rail Project for EUR450 million (INR 3502 crores) which will be released in two parts of EUR 200 million and EUR 250 million respectively. Signing of the loan agreement will help in the funding of system works such as rolling stock, signaling, traction and telecom systems with international contracting agencies to whom the contracts have already been awarded.
