The Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design for the Lac Straulesti – Gara Progresu Metro
Line 4/Green Line extension in Bucharest has been completed. Metrorex the
operator of the Metro Bucharest awarded the contract to the JV Metroul SA/
Amberg Engineering in October 2017.
The 11.92km planned extension will connect Gara de Nord
(Bucharest's main train station) with Gara Progresu, in the south of Bucharest
(not yet on the map) with 13 new stations and 1 new train depot. The project
was organized in three phases: Pre-feasibility, Option selection (with the
objective of selecting the route of the new line and the location of the new
stations) and Preliminary design. Total construction cost will be in the region
of EUR1.5 Billion and will take 5 years to construct.
The journey on the new extension will take 20 minutes from
Gara de Nord to Gara Progresu while the total transit time from Lac Straulesti
to Gara Progresu will be 32 minutes. Once the line is complete, the whole
rolling stock operated on line 4 will be replaced. Click ro/13 for the tunnelbuilder
