On 3 September 2024 - following the positive conclusion of the Service Conference convened in March 2023 - the definitive project (PD) of the proposed variant for the Cefalù stop - Access ramp to the evacuation tunnel section, on the Ogliastrillo-Castelbuono section, was approved. This is part of the bigger project to double the Fiumetorto-Ogliastrillo-Castelbuono section, part of the Palermo-Messina railway line. This project relates only to the modification of the access ramp to the evacuation tunnel of the underground Cefalù stop. It provides for the relocation of access outside the urban area of ​​Cefalù in a less urbanized context, located near Via Pietrapollastra. The modification, which involves the extension of the connecting ramp to the Cefalù stop - will remain underground for its entire length and does not cause any significant and negative environmental impacts: therefore the project does not have to be subjected to the VIA procedure. The total investment is approximately EUR19 million.
