Press release - On 30/03/2022 at the construction site near Noisy-Champs station the name of the last TBM for Line 16 was unveiled. In keeping with tradition, the tunnel boring machine was named after a woman, Maud, in honour of Maud Tallet, mayor of Champs-sur-Marne and former teacher. The godmother was chosen in a vote in the various extracurricular structures of the commune of Champs-sur-Marne. Several dozen children were able to give their votes and choose the name of the last TBM for line 16.
The last tunnel boring machine on line 16, "Maud", manufactured by Herrenknecht for the group of companies led by Razel-Bec will set off in the summer of 2022 to dig a 5.5-kilometre long tunnel from the back of the kilometres long, from the Noisy - Champs back station to the Bel-Air structure at Chelles. This section, once dug, will connect lines 15 and 16 to each other at Noisy - Champs, thus prefiguring the first ring road of the Grand Paris Express. This tunnel boring machine has already dug on line 15 South between 2019 and 2021 (under the name Camille) between Créteil L'Echat station and the Salengro structure at Champignysur-Marne.
