E18 Langangen - Rugtvedt is part of the E18 Langangen - Grimstad section. The project is 17 km long and has a contract value of about EUR516,47 million (NOK 5.2 billion), excluding VAT.
The project includes user structures totalling 1.6 km and 6.6 km with tunnels. In the spring of 2019, Nye Veier decided to cancel the competition for the project, which then included E18 Kjorholt - Rugtvedt due to lack of competition. Now this is scaled up, and thus extends from Langangen to Rugtvedt in Porsgrunn municipality.
The E18 Kjorholt - Rugtvedt section includes the newly excavated tunnels Kjorholt (2 200m) and Bamble (750 m) to be completed and equipped. The E18 Langangen - Kjorholt section includes the twin tube tunnels Blafjell (350 m), Bjonnas (2 250 m), Prestas (2 900 m), Brattas (400 m) and the monotube Steinbrekka (200 m) tunnel.
