On 09.01.2013 Sophia, Crossrail’s fifth TBM, began the drive from Plumstead to North Woolwich which will carry London’s new rail link under the River Thames. The 110 m-long machine is scheduled to bore around 100 m/week, installing a lining of precast concrete segmental rings.
