Contractor Shapir, in JV with Pizzarotti, is driving twin 9.7 m-diameter tunnels, each 11.5 km-long, for the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high-speed railway. Some 14,500 precast concrete rings will be set, using ES TunnelFlex 33 Plus rubber gaskets to withstand the expected 5 bar hydraulic pressure during rainy periods.
