Conference on the Lyon-Turin Transalpine LineURIS AR, the Regional Union of Engineers and Scientists of the Ain and Rhone departments (France), organises on 9th and 10th June, 2005 a conference on the Lyon-Turin high speed line, a project planned both for freight and passengers. Among the topics to be addressed will be the technical issues of the line (construction, safety and operation) as well as the juridical and financial aspects.The EUR12 billion Lyon-Turin high speed line between France and Italy will cross the Alps passing through a 52 km base tunnel. Rock investigation and access tunnels are already under construction or will start in the near future on the French side at Saint-Martin-la-Porte, Modane and La Praz and in Venaus, Italy.
