On 11.03.2013 and 21.03.2013 the first and second elements of the 1.6 km-long Coatzacoalcos River tunnel in Veracruz, Mexico were successfully immersed. TEC, commissioned by the consortium CTC, is the tunnel designer, and is also assisting in the immersion process. The five tunnel elements comprising the crossing are each 138 m-long. The maximum depth of the base of the tunnel will be about 30 m. The immersion process is being undertaken by Marine Joint Venture, composed by Volker Construction International and Dragamex (Boskalis Latin America).
