Clem Jones tunnel opens in Brisbane

16/04/2010
The 4.8 km-long, twin two-lane Clem Jones tunnel, known as the North-South Bypass Tunnel (NSBT) while under construction, opened to traffic on 16.03.2010. The tunnel is the main feature of the 6.8 km-long tollway project linking five major motorways and arterial roads on the north and south sides of the Brisbane River, bypassing up to 24 sets of traffic lights. This forms the first section of the new M7 motorway in Brisbane, to be completed in 2012 following the construction of the 6.7 km Airport Link, which also includes a 5.7 km tunnel. The M7 will provide a direct link from Woolloongabba to the airport and the growing northern suburbs. Click au/21, au/29 and au/30. Visit www.rivercitymotorway.com.au and www.clem7.com.au. 15/10.
