On 05.03.2012 breakthrough was achieved in the new Scrajo rock tunnel on the SS145 Sorrentina bypass between Pozzano and Seiano. The 5.2 km alignment comprises five tunnels: Pozzano (1,050 m), Punta Orlando (1,500 m), Scrajo 1 (580 m), Scrajo 2 (400 m) and Seiano (1,300 m, refurbished). They will be equipped with 3 km safety tunnel, partial lighting, ventilation ducts, firefighting systems, light signalling for emergency exits, and SOS niches. Total investment EUR72 million. The JV Impresa SpA (Rome), Nbi Srl (Bo) and Ellemme Impianti SpA (Na) completed the works, which originally started in 1982. For more click here and here.
