The UK government has given the green light to EUR2.27 billion plans for the upgrading of the A303 between the M3 and M5 motorways, and 11.26 km stretch of new dual carriageway with a 2.9 km tunnel under the Stonehenge site. The plan is subject to a public consultation, which will run until 5 March, with a view to starting work in 2020 and completing the new South West Expressway by 2029. The preferred route will be announced later in 2017. The plan will transform the A303, cutting congestion and improving journey times.Click uk/34 for tunnelbuilder archive.
