The east tube of the Morazzone rock tunnel (GN71) is 2,089.7 m-long from P.K. 2+899.00 to P.K. 0+809.30. The tunnel is excavated from two sides: at north adit in Lozza municipality with drill/blast and at south adit in Gazzada-Schianno municipality with hammer. By May, 2013 advance from south was 214.3 m (pk 1+023.7 – site 25). Better ground conditions after pk 1+005 allowed consolidation with VTR and steel pipes (site 24) and steel pipes (site 25) instead of jet grouting. The advance from north adit was 770.20 m (pk 2+128.8).
The west tube of the tunnel (GN72) is 2,090.00 m-long from P.K. 2+896.00 to P.K. 0+806.00. By May the advance from South adit was 164.5 m (pk 0+970.5 – site 19).
