On 12.06.2015 Hubert Du Mesnil and Mario Virano, respectively President and General Manager of Telt (Euralpin Tunnel Lyon Turin), at the meeting "Preparing the future economic exchanges” held at the Expo in Milan, informed that the certification of costs prepared by the group Tractebel Engineering SA/TUC Rail has been handed to the Italian and French governments, by the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) for the Turin-Lyon. The 57 km-long international base tunnel from St-Jean de Maurienne to Susa will require a EUR8.5 billion investment.

The conference also highlighted the importance of the work to the local economy. Over 40 percent of the companies involved on the Italian side are from the Susa Valley or the Province of Turin. The benefits to users, the community and train operators are expected to well outweigh the costs.
