Metrolinx is preparing to call tenders for construction of the Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown Light Rapid Transit Line (LRT). This LRT will run in 17.5 km of new twin bored tunnel under Eglinton Avenue in Toronto. A contract for the first segment of tunnel, 6.75 km-long from Black Creek to Yonge Street, will be tendered in January 2012, with construction to begin in August 2012. The tenders for two more tunnel segments will follow later in 2012.
