On 19.12.2014 TBM Elaine was named for excavation of an 8 km-long tunnel for the 13 km-long metro Line B in Rennes. The line, which will serve 15 stations and connect the southwestern and northeastern parts of the urban area, will open at the end of 2019. The TBM, built by Herrenknecht, is 82 m-long and weighs 1,450 t. It will be launched in early-2015 and will drive the tunnel at a depth of more than 20 m and at a planned rate of 300 m/month.
