The TBM Angeli, boring twin tunnels for the Regional Connector Transit Project, broke through at Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill Station at 2nd Place and Hope Street in Downtown Los Angeles on June 1^st , four months after being launched in Little Tokyo.

Following June’s breakthrough at the east end of the Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill Stationthe TBM will have to be moved to the southwest end, where it will resume excavating until it reaches the intersection of Flower and 4th streets. Angeli will then be taken apart and transported back to the 1st and Central Station site in Little Tokyo where the TBM will be reassembled in order to begin boring the second tunnel.
