Riyadh TBM startup

On 30.04.2015 the first of two FAST Consortium TBMs started tunnelling the Riyadh Metro Green Line. The TBM, named Dhafrah, meaning Victory in Arabic, started boring on the 12.9 km-long tunnel between Riyadh Airbase and King Abdul Aziz Historical Centre. The Green Line features eleven stations and two endpoint transfer stations with the Blue and Red lines. The TBM is expected to advance at 75 to 100 m/week, installing a precast concrete segmental lining.The FAST Consortium comprises eight companies: Alstom (France), Atkins (UK), FCC (Spain, consortium leader), Freyssinett (Saudi Arabia), Samsung CT (Korea), Setec (France), Strukton (Netherlands) and Typsa (Spain).
