The builders and latest concept plans for the Metro Tunnel have been selected, paving the way for major construction and the creation of thousands of new jobs across Victoria.

The Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) consortium has been selected as the preferred bidder to deliver Metro Tunnel’s multi-billion ‘Tunnel and Stations’ Public Private Partnership package of works.

CYP comprises Lendlease Engineering, John Holland, Bouygues Construction and Capella Capital amongst nearly 80 renowned firms.

In addition to the twin nine kilometre tunnels, CYP will build five new underground stations, each with its own identity. They will include wide platforms, natural light and sweeping arches, bringing world-class urban design to the heart of Melbourne and its train network.

A new video and the latest concept design images are now available on the Metro Tunnel website. An interactive map for each station is also available to explain how passengers will use these new transport gateways.

The Tunnel and Stations package of works will create more than 5,000 jobs, including apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets.

Early works are well underway on the Metro Tunnel, with major construction on the tunnel and stations expected to start next year.
