HS2 railway London-Birmingham approved

The second high speed railway line to be built in the UK will run 225 km from London Euston to Birmingham New Street. The first section out of Euston will require a 4.4 km tunnel at Ruislip, and a second new 2.25 km-long tunnel will be driven beneath the Chiltern hills at Amersham. Tunnelling will also be required at Turweston and Wendover in Buckinghamshire; Greatworth, Chipping Warden and Aston le Walls in Northamptonshire; and Long Itchington Wood in Warwickshire.
