Bypass tunnel for Delaware Aqueduct in New York City

Robbins will provide a 6.6 m diameter Single Shield TBM for the Rondout West Branch Bypass Tunnel. Cracking and leakage has been occurring in the Delaware Aqueduct, where it passes through limestone. The acqueduct supplies drinking water to New York City.

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will build a 4.02 km bypass tunnel around a portion of the aqueduct with the most significant leaks. The bypass tunnel will run east from the Town of Newburgh, in Orange County, to the Town of Wappinger, in Duchess County, and will be constructed while continuing to meet water demand without interruption.
