Vomp exploration drive will be utilised as the escape route from the main tunnel. A 150 m access drive has been completed towards the centre of the alignment from where contractor Jager is driving east and west in loose material. Geology is terrible in the east drive where umbrella drilling is necessary using an Atlas Copco 352 drillrig and pregrouting is being carried out to stem the water ingress. The east drive had advanced 400 m when a 50 m-high collapse occurred two weeks ago. West drive is in better conditions and has advanced 700 m to date.
