Award of EUR65 million contract to BAM/Wayss u Freytag for engineering, procurement and construction of 4.9 km-long, 3.5 m-diameter pipeline tunnel beneath Sruwaddacon Bay in County Mayo, Western Ireland, and installation of 50 cm-diameter gas pipeline, two 25 cm-diameter water lines, and auxiliaries for onshore transmission of gas from Corrib field, 80 km offshore. Contractor will use 4.24 m-diameter slurry shield to install 25 cm-thick steel fibre reinforced segmental lining through quaternary sands, gravel and gneiss.
