In August 2007, the Bulgarian ministry of transport awarded Iberinsa and ILF the design services for the modernization of the approx. 270 km railway line from Vidin to Sofia. The entire section comprises numerous bridges, tunnels, stations and other constructions. The main objective is to upgrade the respective railway line in compliance with the requirements of European transport corridor IV, to eliminate current restrictions in order to meet European standards. The project comprises the elaboration of a technical and financial feasibility study, the conceptual design and the preparation of a tendering strategy. A EUR137.4 million contract was signed by the Roads Executive Agency with the Turkish consortium Mapa-Cengiz Construction, for the construction of the Lyulin motorway. The 18.8 km Lyulin motorway will start from Sofia's southern bypass toll road and has to reach the Daskalovo road junction to the west of the Bulgarian capital via Souhodol, Golyamo Bouchino and Malo Bouchino. The project envisages the construction of three tunnels (1,269 metres) and 26 bridges and viaducts, since the motorway will pass through the Stara Planina mountain. The new motorway will consist of two lanes in each direction with a central reservation and emergency hard shoulders. The future motorway is part of the European transport corridor IV in its stretch Vidin-Sofia-Kulata and corridor VIII in its stretch Gyueshevo-Kyustendil-Sofia-Trakia motorway-Burgas. It will provide a quicker drive from the northwestern border with Romania and Serbia to Greece in the south. The project is funded by the ISPA programme of the EU, through a EUR111.3 million grant, and the remaining EUR37.1 million of the financing will be provided by the Roads Executive Agency. FortisBC Energy, Inc. awarded to Frontier-Kemper Constructors, a Tutor Perini Corporation subsidiary, the EUR173.10 million (CAD$341 million) contract for the tunnel component of the Eagle Mountain - Woodfibre Gas Pipeline project. The project consists of using two TBMs to bore an approximately 9-km tunnel between the town of Squamish, British Columbia, Canada and the Woodfibre LNG industrial site, located southwest of downtown Squamish. The tunnel will play an important role in protecting sensitive ecosystems and wildlife within the Skwelwil’em Squamish Estuary by locating underground a 60.96 cm natural gas pipeline system that Frontier-Kemper will install as part of the project. The tunnel will measure four meters in diameter and will run at depths of approximately 25 m to 450 m below ground surface. Pre-construction activities, including design, procurement and construction planning, are expected to commence in March 2022 with construction anticipated to begin in early 2023. Bessac, Soletanche Bachy’s specialized subsidiary, in an integrated consortium with the Canadian company EBC, has won the EUR 125.02 million (CAD183.8 million) contract to build a new storm collector for the city of Toronto, named Fairbank Silverthtorn Storm Trunk Sewer System.  

The contract provides for the completion of:  

• A gravity storm main collector 4.5 m in diameter and 2.4 km long, built with an TBM EPB, which will be designed and manufactured by Bessac 
• 10 sections of local collectors 1.8 m in diameter and 1.8 km in total length, built by MTBM pipe jacking 
• An outfall section 1.8 m in diameter and 120 m in length built by open cut 
• A structure to discharge water into the natural environment   

Work is expected to last 31 months and involves the construction of 21 shafts.
