Sireg has been operating in the geotechnical field since 1936, and is now the market leader in thermoplastic-based products. The company, which attained ISO 9001 certification in 1997, has a 12,000 sq m factory on a 20,000 sq m site in Arcore, Italy.

Apart from its core business in geotechnical products for ground engineering and tunnelling, Sireg also has divisions dealing with its battery separator and water businesses.

Products from the geotechnical division are made from innovative, high quality thermoplastic and thermosetting materials. They are widely used to strengthen and stabilize weak, sandy and fissured soils in construction of tunnels, dams, railways and roads. A wide range of products is manufactured, including carbon fibres, grouting pipes, fibreglass structural elements, drainage pipes and geocomposites, construction joints, and inclinometer casings.

  Carbopree ®
This latest line of structural bars and profiles is made of carbon fibres impregnated with vinylester resins and surface coated with quartz sand for greater adherence. Carbopree® is the most reliable alternative to steel for permanent soil nailing, anchors and reinforcement of structures in saline or caustic environments.

It has low weight, high tensile strength, excellent corrosion resistance, long serviceability and high fatigue endurance. It can be used for manufacture of permanent ground anchors and, because Carbopree® does not damage cutters, it can also be used in diaphragm walls and other situations where there is a need to cut through the finished concrete.

  Grouting Pipes
The mechanical characterisitics and permeability of porous and fissured ground can be ameliorated by grouting through perforated pipes such as Durnivil S® and Durvitech®. Dur-O-Ring® sleeves inserted into the column permit grouting to be carried out in more than one stage, for instance, to fill voids and then seal cracks and fissures.

Different chemical components can be injected into the ground simultaneously through two or more adjacent sleeved pipes, promoting mixture and reaction in the surrounding soil. Such techniques are used to correct unstable foundations, for large excavations and earthworks, and in dam and tunnel construction to anchor the ground and stabilize the face.

Grouting Pipes

  Fibreglass Elements
High-resistance synthetic materials, which are easy to cut through in the excavation process, make it possible to stabilize the ground ahead of the face. The Durglass FL® structural element combines fibreglass reinforcement with high-pressure injection to preconsolidate the ground before excavation.

The installation is designed to slow the decline of the geomechanical characteristics of the soil, so that it can contribute to the support of the face and lining. A variety of Durglass FL® elements is available in solid and hollow rod, flat bar, and patented structural elements.

  Drainage Pipes
The classic use of slotted drainage pipes is for the stabilization of slopes, into which they are inserted a couple of degrees below horizontal to facilitate water percolation and removal. PVC Durvinil® pipes are supplied to remedy the full range of drainage problems, including relief of interstitial water pressure. If the correct slot width is chosen, the drain will remain efficient for a very long period.

PVC Durvinil® well casing and screen withstands all types of underground water, including saline, acid and alkaline solutions, and can be subjected to repeated treatments with chemicals.

  Waterstop
Flexvinil PVC Waterstop® is a highly-elastic waterproof profile for construction and expansion joints in concrete structures. It is designed to absorb mechanical and natural stresses while sealing the structure, and is suited to hydro, tunnels, channels and diaphragms, and water retaining systems.

  Technodrain®
In weak soils, Technodrain® creates vertical channels for drainage of interstitial water without the need for complementary filtering material. It comprises a central element of thermoplastic laminate Durvinil®, perforated and corrugated for high drainage, and a wrapping element of highly permeable polypropylene geotextile.

Durvidrain® can be used to eliminate the hydrostatic pressure behind walls and linings, allowing a cost-saving reduction in their design thickness.

  Inclinometer Casing
When the ABS Inclinometer Casing® is installed and grouted into place, it allows the slope indication equipment to function at top efficiency to monitor sliding movements of dams, embankments and retaining structures.
