Taking no chances with fire
Temperatures beyond 1000º C can become a reality much too quickly in tunnel fires. If the worst comes to the worst AESTUVER fire-resistant boards can reliably protect Underground transport system structures from high-temperature fire loads. This is why the Elbetunnels in Hamburg, Germany, use AESTUVER boards for fire protection.

Safety for millions
Around 110 million vehicles pass through the Elbetunnels every year, and daily about 21000 private cars and lorries use the Lübeck Herrentunnel, also in Germany. The operators of both tunnels have one thing in common: they rely on AESTUVER for structural fire protection. AESTUVER fire-resistant boards have been specifically designed for underground transport systems, doing an excellent job under high-temperature conditions. They are reliable in protecting the concrete against the effects of fire temperatures of up to 1350 °C. Fire-resistant cable ducts, too, are indispensable fire safety features. They help maintain the integrity of essential systems in the event of a fire, and they keep smoke away from rescue routes. The central Berlin railway station Lehrter Bahnhof is just one example where fire-resistant cable ducts guarantee safety should a fire occur.

Non-combustible materials can help contain fires. This is essential for safe escape routes and for preventing fire spread to other sections of a tunnel or structure. AESTUVER fire-resistant boards are a perfect solution, particularly for highly specialized preventive fire engineering requirements. The boards do not contain any combustible components, and they have a very high water and frost resistance. This is why they can also be used on surfaces exposed to weathering.
