Thomson Line underway

On 27.06.2014 construction of the 30 km-long Thomson Line (TSL) got underway. The new underground rail line, which will connect the northern part of Singapore to the Central Business District (CBD) and Marina Bay area, is expected to open in phases from 2019. By 2021, 22 stations will be open, including interchanges with all of the current MRT lines at six stations: Woodlands, Caldecott, Stevens, Orchard, Outram Park and Marina Bay.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced the names for the remaining sixteen TSL stations as Woodlands North, Woodlands South, Springleaf, Lentor, Mayflower, Bright Hill, Upper Thomson, Mount Pleasant, Napier, Orchard Boulevard, Great World, Havelock, Maxwell, Shenton Way, Marina South, Gardens by the Bay. The names were put to a public poll in May, 2013 and approved by the Street and Building Names Board (SBNB).
