Arna-Stanghelle project

25/04/2018
The main objective of the Arna -Stanghelle project, joint venture by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and the Norwegian railway company Bane Nor, is to build a safer and faster rail and road between the two locations. For most of the route, the railway and road tunnels will run in parallel with shared cross-passage bypasses for evacuation. The railway will consist of two tunnels; one 18.7 km and the other 8.0 km long with two new stations. The road route (E16) includes 3 tunnels of 9-10 km. The local urban development plan will be completed in spring 2020 and approved by the authorities in autumn 2020. Work is expected to start in 2022 (road) and 2024 (rail).
