Dubai municipality began work on 31st March, 2003 on a 1.5 km tunnel beneath the runway at Dubai International Airport as part of a new Dh686 million road network around the airport. The tunnel, with four lanes in each direction, will connect Beirut Road and Nad Al Hamr Road to Al Twar area.
