Hydro

Salini Impregilo signed a EUR 3.5 bn ($3.9 bn) framework agreement to build the hydroelectric project, located on the Vakhsh river, in Tajikistan, upstream of Nurek HPP which is currently in operation. Salini Impregilo has also been assigned the EUR1.75 bn ($1.95 bn) Lot 1 of the works. It consists of the building of a 335-m-high rockfill dam with a clay core, which will be the tallest in the world. The dam will be located on the Vakhsh River in Pamir, one of Central Asia's main mountain ranges. The project includes hydraulic tunnels for diversion and spillage (with lengths between 1100 m and 1500 m, diameter between 10 m and 15 m), an underground powerhouse with six units (6 x 600 MW), plant and auxiliary equipment. The agreement between Salini Impregilo and OJSC Rogun Hydropower Project (the state-run company that is coordinating the project) concerns the exploitation of the Pamir’s huge hydroelectric potential and includes four lots. The three remaining lots are seen being assigned to the Group by September 30th 2016. For further information please visit http://www.salini-impregilo.com/en. 27/16.
