Verbund Hydro Power GmbH has awarded Pöyry a wide range of engineering and project management services for the Unterer Tuxbach hydropower project which will be constructed in the Tyrolean Zillertal, Austria. The award comprises detailed design and site supervision services as well as the necessary geological aspects including hydro geological preservation services.
The Tuxbach hydropower project is situated in the Zillertal, province of Tyrol. The new structure will harness the power of the Tuxbach creek and will simultaneously increase the efficiency of the group of hydropower plants Zemm - Ziller, one of the largest power stations in Austria. The project comprises of one 8.6 km long tunnel, two weirs, a fish passing structure and a small hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 1.7 MW.
