Metro Line E

1.25 km double-track tunnel to new workshop being built by Metroví­­as between Plaza de los Virreyes station on Line E and crossroads between Lacarra street and the Perito Moreno highway. 46/01.The Secretariate for Transportation has extended to 26th April, 2006 the deadline to enable the contractors who prequalified in the tender for the construction of the Line E extension of the Buenos Aires metro to update their accounting and legal documentation, to then move forward to the stage of submission of financial bids. Tenders were invited before the 2001 recession so that the process must be adjusted to the new economic situation of the country. On 21st March, 2006 the Secretariate for Transportation requested from the contractors and consortia technically prequalified an update of the documents they submitted in May 2001.The prequalified contractors and consortia are a JV of Techint, Benito Roggio, Sade and Skanska and a JV of Gualtieri, José Cartellone, Dycasa and Dragados.The civil works required for the extension of Line E will connect the existing Bolivar station with Retiro, running under Rivadavia and Leandro N. Alem avenues, adding 2,300 metres to the 9,986 m-long line in service today. The section will serve three new stations (Correo Central, Catalinas and Retiro). Visit www.transporte.gov.ar 15/06.Civil works for the extension of Line E of the Buenos Aires metro have been awarded to Benito Roggio & Hijos, for ARP346.7 million. The contract was signed on 16th February, 2007. The extended line will link up the existing Bolivar station with a new terminus station in Retiro. The new section will run beneath Rivadavia and Leandro N. Alem avenues, adding 2.3 km to the existing 10 kilometres of line. A depot and three stations (Correo Central, Catalinas, and Retiro) are also part of the contract. The tunnel will cross five main obstacles: Line B, Line C, a 2.8 m-diameter wastewater sewer, a rainwater sewer under San Martin street and, in Retiro, the Onabe building.
